The Annual Dinner 2019 raises funds for local charity York Mind

It was an evening of success and celebration of the professional services sector at the recent York Professionals Annual Dinner 2019 held at York Racecourse. The evening, which was themed around mental health and raised £950 for local charity York Mind, was enjoyed by an audience of influential York professional services businesses and delivered through the generous support of our headline sponsors Garbutt + Elliott, The Soapy Group and The Hand Dyed Shoe Co.

Mental health is a real struggle for many people and our guest speaker was Simon Bourne, Owner, Hand Dyed Shoe Co who shared his own mental health story. Simon talked about his personal journey, how he found the courage to get his business off the ground and the challenges he faced along the way. Despite battling his own inner demons, Simon shared his thoughts and observations of entrepreneurship, talking candidly about his daily journey to continually deliver the very best in all that he does and how he achieved brilliant success out of an ambition which came from a love of shoes.

Chair of York Professionals, Michelle Mook said “As my first year as Chair of York Professionals I was delighted to support York Mindthrough the Annual Dinner and want to thank local York businesses who donated charity tombola prizes to help us raise much needed funds for this worthy charity. With this in mind, it was lovely to welcome back York Professionals member Catherine Adamson who updated us on her fundraising efforts last year for local charities SASH and The Island. We were delighted to support her through our fundraising at last year’s event and it was with a warm heart that we heard her inspirational story.”

A York Mind representative said: “We're so pleased to have received a wonderful donation of £950 from the York Professionals Annual Dinner. Thank you for supporting our vital work in York and for making some of our team so welcome at thedinner too.”

Plans are already underway for 2020 and the date of the dinner is soon to be announced. As an event which continues to grow in popularity and support, sponsors are now being sought.
