York Professionals celebrates its Silver Anniversary, with 25 years supporting businesses in the city
York Professionals isproud to have been supporting businesses in York for 25 years. What was once merely an ambition to champion the city’s professional services sector became a reality back in 2001. Today, the organisation has a flourishing membership representing over 160 businesses and thousands of professional services personnel in the city.
Susie Mortonson, Chair, York Professionals, said: “Thanks to our dedicated and passionate Board of Directors who give up their time voluntarily to champion the professional services sector we have maintained relevance in today’s business environment. Our varied and exciting calendar of events have worked to attract increasing momentum, helping to keep the organisation front of mind to more businesses in the city whilst also raising thousands of pounds for local charities over the last few years.”
As a not-for-profit organisation York Professionals relies on the continued support of its members to keep doing what it does best - drive forward the collective ambition to be recognised as a leading centre for business and enterprise. With over 20% of York businesses and 21,000 people operating in the professional services landscape in the city, York Professionals has strived to raise the sector’s profile.
From what started out as a small group of businesses primarily in the business and finance sectors, the organisation has flourished, now representing over 165 businesses in the city across a wide range of sectors, including finance, marketing, people, legal, property, business support, creative & digital and charity sectors.
Continually responsive to its members, during Covid events immediately switched online, creating a life-line of support for businesses navigating their way through unchartered territory. In addition, the organisation opened its doors to the charity sector to help local charities connect with businesses for mutual benefit.
The York Professionals vision is to support York’s growth and showcase a community of professionals who are recognised as leaders in their field, through providing a mix of opportunities such as networking and other social events.
